Who is Simone Agoussoye

Washington, DC born artist, Simone Agoussoye, has been honing her skills in portrait artistry for the past several years. Known for her creative depictions of people - most often icons in music, pop culture, history and the arts - Simone blends her traditional skill in portraiture with fresh, unique and unconventional techniques transforming her from a realistic fine artist to more of a contemporary artist.

From a young age, Simone was always creating and painting something. Her parents were very supportive when it came to Simone's artistic expressions. Her grandmother also had a major influence on her interest in art. At the age of 7, Simone knew that when she grew up, she wanted to be an artist and ever since then made conscious choices that led her to become the artist that she is today. Throughout her journey, her work has been inspired by artists like Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Simone’s evolution in portrait artistry has allowed her to explore using materials such as broken crushed glass in her work. The use of this material has sharpened her craftsmanship, proving that she has a unique talent. She is highly creative with an insatiable thirst for growth and development in her artistic skill. Known for her creative depictions of people, Simone blends her traditional skill in portraiture with fresh, new and unconventional techniques transforming her from a realistic fine artist to more of a contemporary artist.

Over the course of her artistic career, and even in her youth, Simone has been awarded - in fairs, competitions and ceremonies - for her artistic ability and talent as reflected in her artwork. Her longtime passion for art led her to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the Art Institute of Washington, which she completed in 2011.

Simone’s artwork has also been featured in many public exhibitions, across the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia region including Artist Evolutions at the National Harbor’s Art Avenue Gallery, Broken Beauty at the ArtReach GW at THEARC, in Washington DC, and Beautiful People at Arlington, VA’s ARC3409 Art Studios and Space. And countless others. Across the globe, her work adorns the private collections of art lovers through the United States, United Kingdom and beyond.
